S&T Division Demonstrates New Wireless Technology for Emergency Responders
DHS Today, 9/2/08
Getting emergency responders to communicate over different systems has been the goal of many in the homeland security field since Sept. 11, 2001, and now that goal is within sight. Last week, the Science and Technology Directorate’s Control and Interoperability Division (CID) conducted a successful demonstration of its Radio Over Wireless Broadband (ROW-B) project with the District of Columbia. The ROW-B technology demonstration is a milestone for emergency responders, who are increasingly using both traditional land mobile radio (LMR) systems and wireless broadband to communicate. ROW-B demonstrated a common connection point between these systems.
