Project 25 Documents & Standards Reference
Welcome
Project 25 (Project 25 was established by joint efforts of the Association of Public Safety Communications Officials International (APCO), the National Association of State Telecommunications Directors (NASTD), selected Federal Agencies and the National Communications System (NCS). It was established to address the need for common digital public safety radio communications standards for First Responders and Homeland Security/Emergency Response professionals.) (P25) is a partnership between the public safety communications community and industry manufacturers whose goal is the publication of a suite of standards that enable the offering, procurement, and operation of interoperable digital two-way wireless communications products and systems that meet mission-critical needs of public safety practitioners. (P25 Communications Resources provides links to more information.)
The P25 DSR (Project 25 Documents & Standards Reference) tracks the current state of P25 standards documents to help public safety LMR (land mobile radio) system managers make planning and procurement decisions. The P25 DSR also describes the organization and relationships of the standards necessary to build components of a P25 LMR system. Understanding P25 standards organization and relationships provides users, manufacturers, and government agencies a useful roadmap for charting progress and prioritizing standards development.
The TIA (Telecommunications Industry Association) TR8 (Mobile and Personal Private Radio Standards) Committee meets quarterly to develop, revise, and approve P25 standards documents. The P25 DSR section of this site is updated soon after each TR8 Committee meeting to reflect P25 standards document progress. The PSCR (Public Safety Communications Research) program has developed this site on behalf of DHS/OIC (Department of Homeland Security/Office for Interoperability and Compatibility) to assist in outreach efforts regarding P25 standards.
The P25 DSR is updated quarterly based upon results from the face-to-face P25 standards meetings and comments from users, manufacturers, and participants in the standardization process. The PSCR program and its sponsoring organizations make no claims, promises, or guarantees about the accuracy, completeness, or adequacy of the information contained in the P25 DSR. This is not official TIA/TR8/P25 content and should be used for general reference only.
