Highlights
MAY 3 – 11, 2010 (Krakow, Poland) — PSCR engineers joined the international collaboration within the VQiPS working group. They met with researchers from AGH Technical University who will be collaborating with PSCR on video quality research studies. The teams discussed their test plans confirming that the studies to be done by AGH and PSCR will be undertaken in a similar fashion.
In addition, PSCR engineers presented a paper entitled “A Framework for Generalizing Public Safety Video Use Cases” at the IEEE Conference on Multimedia Communications, Services, & Security, MAY 6 – 7. The presentation generated interest from several parties working for the Intelligent Information System Supporting Observation, Searching and Detection for Security of Citizens in Urban Environment (also known as INDECT) project, a EU project comprised by a consortium of universities and public safety agencies from across Europe whose work is similar in nature to that of the PSCR program.
The work of the INDECT EU project, like the that of PSCR is public safety centric. Both groups are concerned with delivering tools that meet the needs of end users. The INDECT EU project invited PSCR to attend several INDECT working group meetings coinciding with the IEEE conference. PSCR participation in these meetings generated interest in PSCR work from several attendees. Many research topics of interest to the INDECT EU project are the same as for PSCR. With an understanding of the similarities and differences between the work of the INDECT EU project and that of PSCR, PSCR engineers learned how exchanging information in the future will be beneficial to both groups.
