FEB 1 – 3, 2010 (Boulder, CO) — In partnership with DHS/OIC (Department of Homeland Security/Office for Interoperability and Compatibility), the PSCR (Public Safety Communications Research) program hosted its second VQiPS (Video Quality in Public Safety) Working Group workshop.

Significant progress was made toward finalizing the generalized framework for classifying applications, and toward completing a VQiPS guide to help public safety agencies purchasing video equipment understand their general requirements, and provide qualitative guidance based on those requirements.

The goal for finalizing Version 1.0 of the VQiPS guide is June, 2010. Version 2.0 of the guide will contain links and references to existing specifications and standards as they apply to the general requirements for purchasing video equipment.

Also during the February 2010 workshop, participants developed a plan to guide collaborative research towards new specifications.
