June 2013 Public Safety Broadband Stakeholder Conference
JUN 4 – 6, 2013 (Westminster, CO) — The PSCR program hosted its latest PSBB Stakeholder Conference. The three-day conference (sessions and presentations), which had over 500 attendees, brought together representatives from public safety, Federal agencies, industry, and academia. Participants learned about recent work efforts related to the build out of the NPSBN as well as test results from the PSCR program’s PSBB 700-MHz Band 14 Demonstration Network.
Conference attendees benefitted from the decision of the FirstNet Board to locate their June Board Meeting at the conference hotel the morning of June 4. The FirstNet Board Meeting was webcast live into the PSCR Conference Room. Immediately following the Board Meeting, PSCR kicked off its PSBB Stakeholder Conference with a keynote address from FirstNet Chairman, Sam Ginn. Ginn reinforced the importance of FirstNet outreach to ensure that the NPSBN meets the needs of public safety.
PSCR's Dereck Orr closes the successful conference.
The conference provided an opportunity for FirstNet Board members and their technical staff to inform stakeholders about current FirstNet efforts, as well as provide an opportunity for stakeholders to ask questions and provide feedback to FirstNet, PSCR, DHS, NTIA, and other partners. Conference topics included:
o DHS OEC Stakeholder Technical Assistance Program
o FirstNet and the PSAC
In addition, subject matter and industry experts presented on some of the most pressing and important technical PSBB communications topics. Significant time was dedicated to topic-specific Q&A as well as a dedicated Q&A session informed by a pre-conference questionnaire that facilitated informative discussion and feedback opportunity for participants.
